Jennifer Morrow Publishes Second Book
College Archivist Jennifer Morrow and the Hiram College Archives have released “Where we go now, I cannot tell: The Eclectic Goes to War, 1861-1863.” This is the second chapbook to feature Civil War letters housed in the College Archives.
The new book covers the years 1861-1863 and picks up where the first book, “The Eclectic Prepares for War,” 1857-1861, ended. The letters look at life on the home front, as well as reporting on life in camp and at the front. Among the topics are life and events at the Eclectic, a growing anti-war movement and reports from the front, especially the Vicksburg campaign.
A third book, covering the final years of the war, is currently being planned. Copies may be purchased in the Hiram College Bookstore.
