Last year we broke our all-time attendance record with over 900 Alumni Weekend participants. With your help, we can break that record again!
For years, Hiram College’s Centers of Distinction have offered students a means to connect education to work. The Centers themselves are not academic departments, but instead offer programming opportunities (speaker series, learning communities, internships, service learning, scholarships) that are open to Hiram students from all majors. With dozens of events and activities every semester, the Centers fuel critical thinking and interdisciplinary study.
The Centers collaborate continually with resource councils and the Offices of Career and Academic Development and
Alumni Relations to establish new funnels for experiential learning – not only on campus, but in partnership with external organizations. The Centers have continued to evolve to best reflect their purpose.
Effective for the 2014-2015 academic year, the former Center for the Study of Science and Nature and the Center for
Deciphering Life’s Languages combined to form the the Center or Scientific Engagement, and the Garfield Center for Public Leadership has expanded to include the study of the American presidency.
Hiram’s other four Centers of Distinction include:
• Center for Global Interaction
• Center for Integrated Entrepreneurship
• Center for Literature and Medicine
• Lindsay-Crane Center for Writing and Literature
