Shawn Brown ’00 has been promoted to vice president of the Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education (NOCHE), where he has served as associate director since 2010. He holds a doctorate in education from Northeastern University in Boston.
Jason Evans ’01 and his family are taking steps – literally – to draw attention to the genetic disorder known as Huntington’s disease, and to raise funds for research efforts to develop effective treatments and a cure. In May 2014, the family set out on a hike: trekking the entire 2,650-mile length of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) to promote their cause.
Tom Hicks ’01 has recently been named the Dean of Students at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
John Mark Schulenburg ’06 is engaged to marry Angela M.J. Damore this October. In addition to his Hiram degree in studio arts, John earned a bachelor’s degree in multimedia from the University of Advancing Technology. He works as a quality assurance analyst at TurboSquid in New Orleans. His bride-to-be teaches art in grades kindergarten through eight in Phoenix.
Will Dahlberg ’07 has recently finished his first radio documentary, something that he has spent the past year working on. He says that it required multiple trips from Alabama to Vermont and lots of time and energy, and was a labor of love and a learning experience. Melissa L. Maskulka ’07 is currently stationed at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. She was named as the 2013 93rd Intelligence Squadron Airman of the Year. In addition to work activities, she’s found time to run multiple half marathons and recently played in the Women’s South Texas Cup Soccer Tournament. She also added an associate degree in intelligence studies and technology and a certificate in Intelligence Analysis to her educational background.
Rachel Floriano ’09 married Matthew Smith on June 1, 2014 at Patterson Fruit Farm in Chesterland, Ohio.
